community Leadership: Deena HorstDEENA HORST taught from 1968 to 2008 in Salina Middle/ Junior High Schools and has served as a member of the South Middle School Site Council. She is also a member of numerous professional organizations including Kansas Art Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Her membership in those organizations has included numerous leadership positions. She has also served on numerous planning and curriculum committees.

In addition, she served as the Department Chairperson for numerous years.

In addition, Deena is the recipient of the prestigious KANSAS MASTER TEACHER AWARD which is awarded to six K-12 educators in Kansas each year.

DEENA HORST was raised on a farm, and is married to Gordon. They have two children, Randall and Rebecca and six grandsons. She holds a Bachelors and a Masters Degree from Emporia State University. Deena also holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University.
